Where community empowers public education

The Don Rokop Memorial Golf Scholarship has been established to commemorate Don’s legacy as an avid golfer. Don started playing golf as a young child and continued playing into his early eighties. During his years as a golfer, he played many courses in Ireland and Scotland and was especially thrilled to have played the Old Course at St. Andrews. Throughout his retirement he played courses in New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado. His only hole-in-one came on number 15 at the Los Alamos County Golf Course in July 2007. Don served as President of the Northern New Mexico Senior Men’s Golf Association (NNMSMGA) in 2008 and headed that organization’s Scholarship Committee for several years.

The annual scholarship in his name will be awarded to a deserving Los Alamos High School senior who is a member of the LAHS golf team and exhibits community service, volunteerism and good citizenship.

You may donate to the scholarship in memory of Don Rokop using the donorbox on this page or by mailing a check made out to LAPS Foundation (with Don Rokop Memorial Golf Scholarship in the memo) to LAPS Foundation, 1010 Central Avenue, Los Alamos, NM 87544.
