2014 Professional Development Grant Recipients

Lorraine Martinez and Therese Mueller, Spanish language teachers at Los Alamos High School, will attend the SWCOLT Foreign Language Conference in Denver, Colorado in February of 2015. This conference is a top educational and networking event for language in the Southwest.  The educational sessions and the networking opportunities with colleagues have an outstanding track record for bringing long term professional benefits.


LAHS library staff will attend the What’s New in Young Adult Literature in Albuquerque, NM on November 17, 2014. The seminar will provide a review of the best new non-fiction and fiction books for your adult readers published in the past year. In addition, the seminar will give practical ready to use ideas for using these books across the curriculum.


Melissa Kinman, Kris Martinez, and Barbara Whitaker, Kindergarten teachers at Mountain Elementary, will attend I Teach K! National Conference in Las Vegas, NV on July 6-9, 2015. This conference will help the teachers prepare the students for the rigorous and evolving demands of the 21st century. The conference will focus on Kindergarten, Common Core State Standards, and Technology Integration
